Muse / One-of-one

Created under the MUSE brand, this one-of-one ensemble was a collaborative project between Marquies and Miayasha, exploring the possibilities of creating a complete head-to-toe denim look through reconstruction.

Rather than starting with new fabric, we sourced pre-existing denim garments from various places and reimagined them into an entirely new silhouette. The goal was to create something that felt familiar yet completely transformed—a look built entirely from denim, but far removed from the way the original garments were intended to be worn.

The jacket was tailored and reconstructed to emphasize a broader shoulder and defined waist, creating a strong silhouette before transitioning seamlessly into the skirt.

The skirt began as a pair of men’s denim pants. After being completely unstitched, the pants were draped and reconstructed into a new skirt, allowing the original garment to become the foundation for something entirely different.

To complete the look, we created a layered belt using the waistbands of two pairs of men’s jeans, transforming an overlooked structural element of the original garments into a statement accessory that ties the jacket and skirt together.

Originally conceived as a one-of-one experimental piece, the garment generated enough interest to demonstrate its potential as a signature MUSE design. What began as an exploration of reconstruction became a piece with the potential to be reproduced and offered under the MUSE brand.

This project reflects our approach to design: take what already exists, deconstruct it, challenge its original purpose, and rebuild it into something new.
